By promoting access to the realities of higher education and scientific career among students from underprivileged contexts, Cartas com Ciência represents a strategic step towards social change, reducing inequalities and improving life conditions of lusophone citizens.

In this context, we contribute to some of the targets to achieve the goals of the Agenda 2063 of the African Union, such as Well educated citizens and skills revolution underpinned by science, technology and innovation, Engaged and empowered youth and children and Africa as a major partner in global affairs and peaceful co-existence, and of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, such as Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities and Partnerships.

Our mission is also part of the focus of Chapter 35 from UN Agenda 21, which designates science as an integrative part of a sustainable development.
